Walking Dead (Enemy Tags)
Luke 23:33 (Amplified Bible)
And when they came to the place, which is called The Skull [Latin: Calvary; Hebrew: Golgotha], there they crucified Him, and [along with] the criminals, one on the right and one on the left.
Many of us are, and have become, very familiar with the so called "fashion craze" of the skull. They have been plastered and imprinted on Hats, T-shirts, Jackets, Purses, Scarves and so on. It is very strange to me how excited the world of fashion has become over something that symbolizes death. This may not have been the intention but it is, what it is.
It has become a phenomenon that most just see as a simple FASHION statement. However, the only statement that I hear echo forth when I see this is a cry for help: "I am dying". Many would beg to differ with my observation but I challenge anyone to explain how this could, in any way represent anything "Good".
A dead corpse that has deteriorated, decayed and lifeless leaves a skull. What else can I say? That is as plain as I can make it.
I ask myself today, is it not enough that the one who came to save us from the power of death had to endure a sinner’s death (undeserved) in the valley called Skull? Is it not a slap in the face to Jesus to wear a shining symbol that represents the very thing that was meant to destroy us. I can only imagine how the heart of God is saddened to see this as it corrodes our nation by the masses everyday.
Jesus came to deliver us from death. Before He did, there was no hope of a life after physical death on this earth. For us who believe, we have a secured place in heaven awaiting the appointed time for us and it is only because Jesus died once and once for all.
Who will stand up against what the enemy is doing in this world? This is just not acceptable to me and is surely not delightful to look at. If we (believers) are supposed to let our lights shine in a dark world, I have to ask, where has the light gone? We cannot do it if we allow the world of couture invade what we stand for and we all send a message to the world by what we wear.
From my perspective, all I see is the enemy (The devil) literally tagging people with this skull in an attempt to mark his (so-called) territory. Why do we allow him to do this to us?
My question to you today is, how will Jesus recognize you when He returns. What will you be wearing?
