Obedience through Meditation
Joshua 1:8
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”
God wants us to obey so that He can guide us to fulfill a divine plan and purpose for our lives. But, submission to His will does not come naturally. Thus, in order for believers to obey, daily mediation upon Scripture is essential. Yet many Christians try to live within the will of God while only opening the Bible when they’re at church. This practice is akin to wanting to play for the team without attending any practices – it results in much error and even more frustration.
The Bible’s purpose is to shine a light on God’s true nature and teach believers His principles, precepts, promises, and provisions. This equips believers to live a life that’s pleasing to God and also what we should believe God for and release our faith for.
As we speak of releasing our faith, learning about the Lord will not do us much good if all the knowledge remains in our head. Meditation is a tool that encourages believers to use godly principles in their daily living.
Faith’s Response:
I will not be an unprepared team member. I resolve to read the Word and meditate therein daily, to ensure that I know the plays God is calling.
