I had the opportunity to be among the 1.8 million Americans who attended the inauguration of the first African American President of the United States - President Barack Hussein O'Bama. As I stood in sub-freezing temperatures waiting to see history unfold, my mind rolled back to my general knowledge of all that African Americans have endured before God saw fit to bring this day about. Who would have ever believed it? After hundred of years of enslavement of over 4 million African people - since the 1600s; after lynchings and other murders, racism of every form, Jim Crowism, bombings, domestic terrorism by Ku Klux Klansmen, Civil Rights marches, Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, and people and events too numerous to mention... I was standing there witnessing God's miracle being sworn in as the 44th President of the United States. It occurred to me that the White House isn't so "white" anymore. One person standing next to me spoke aloud what many of us were thinking: "This is the most remarkable day that has happened in human history in many years. It must be the hand of God."
Truly, God still specializes in things that seem impossible.
Congratulations to President Barack Hussein O'Bama! And, all of our love to your family, First Lady Michelle O'Bama, little Sasha, and Miss Malia! May God's richest blessings rest upon you and God's protection remain with you now and evermore.
