Hi Rasheda, glad I could help you. To answer your question regarding paying yourself--it depends. Here are several scenarios: First, if your husband has another source of income, you guys may consider budgeting to live off most of that income for a while. However, if your business is doing exceptionally well, you would generally pay yourself first (usually it's a certain % of what you bring in--can't think of the exact number). On the other hand, it depends on how you started your business. If you obtained a loan with a business plan, you should have accounted for salary expenses for at least one year. If not, and you decided to start up with what you had monetarily available and wing it as you go along, then most business owners take a substantial salary loss. This is very common. You take what you can get and do the best you can. It's generally what's left after you've paid all your expenses. But, with the Lord's help, it will get better. You just have to spend less and budget down to the wire. That should pretty much explain the $300 bill with only $350 earned. Pay the bill and pray over the 50. Also, you're correct in your understanding of the tax bracket--setting aside the % and operating off the rest. A good software program is Quicken, but Excel works fine too. Quicken will set up more for you. Thanks for the compliment on my styles. The majority of my clients are medium to long hair, but I also do short hair. Yes, I'm a makeup artist, and will travel.
