After my divorce, I faced the challenge of raising four children as a single parent, God favored them, one is a medical doctor, one an ordained priest, one a chemist and one an educator.
I am an associate minister at Union Hill Primitive Baptist Church. There I have the wonderful opportunity to oversee the Mom's Ministry which addresses the challenges of single mothers.
In 2008, I was elected to the Huntsville City Schools Board of Education for District 1, with this election ,I became the first African American woman ever elected to a municipal office in Huntsville, Alabama.
I am a freelance columnist for Speakin Out News , an African American Weekly newspaper, the Immediate Past President for the Alabama State PTA and former National PTA Board of Director.
