Sometime it calls for you to step out of your comfort zone and do what your spouse like to do sometimes. Maybe have a picnic at the park or even go to football game just even take a long walk.

As a couple you have to take some time to be together. We set aside certain weekends just for us. One month my husband will make plans for us to do something and the next month I will make the plans. We always try to do something different each time. Its nice to take the time and see what new things we can learn about each other.

Hello:
I am Mrs. King:
We have date night once a week; movie; dinner; mall, riding; starbucks, soulcafe, walmart(smile)
We have candle light dinner at least twice a month. We try to keep dating and to keep the aim in coming together meaningfully a to do for our marriage. Oh, yeah! sometime we take hotel night. Just go to the hote for a night and fellowship outside the house.

You know sometimes its so hard to steal time away with your spouse. Between work, school activites and the different ministries, and lets forget about my 3 precious boys I really find it hard to do. So I will most definitely be reading and checking you guys out for ideas. Its like everything revolves around my family but I am not complaining because I love them dearly. Oh and lets not forget when we do still away I cant enjoy myself because I feel guilty about leaving them. Somebody tell me whats wrong with me?? lol

I understand what you mean. Everything that we do revolves around our child but we still have to take the time to spend with eachother. Even if it is a little time right before you two are ready for bed. Its just the small things that really mean alot to each of you. My husband and I both work fulltime and I am a fulltime student. We have a child that has to be somewhere everyday of the week. And we are both involved with our church. Those few minutes before bed mean the world to us. Sometimes it seems that all we can say is hello and I love you.

I havent really thought about it on that order. Because its not always possible to do something big. But it is the little things that really should count. If we spend more time focusing on the small things we can treasure those moments as well. Thanks Sharell the advice.

Viv, honey you should NOT feel guilty at all. If you and Chad weren't stealing a lil time you wouldn't have those precious boys.lol) Leonard and I have date night twice a month. We do movies, dancing and different concerts. Sometimes we just have Hotel Friday(smile)! It's nice to be away from the house sometimes and just have some US time. I know it's difficult sometimes with being a wife, mother and a working woman BUT we have to make time for our marriages and not to forget to enjoy one another and have fun as well!

Btw, there is nothin wrong with you. I use to feel guilty till I realized how much better it made our marriage.

Why thank you friend. Those are some good tips. but you know we in a Recession LOL. Just kidding, but not about the recession though. I know you have to find time to spend together. But we are going to do better. I think I will plan a lil escapade next weekend. I will let you know how we come out.

When it boils down to it, our relationships with our spouses is what got us the children anyway. As long as they are not neglected it just fine to take time and attention away from them in order to nurture your marriage.

Let's face it, too many Christian marriages fail because of lack. Nothing else but lack and if we do not take the time required to cultivate our marriage then it is doomed.

Take some time away from ministry for a short season, send the kids with family, whatever it takes to ensure that you and your spouse continue to grow in your marriage which, in my eyes, is a ministry in itself. Amen?

Vince, Thank You for starting this topic. I need to try some different things in my marriage as well. Kids and life can really take an toll on a marriage. I see I still have alot of maturing to do.

Jennifer... we all are growing on this journey called "marriage." The fact that you recognize that you "have alot of maturing to do" says alot about your willingless to recognize that you must begin with yourself to enhance what you and your husband already have. That is self reflection at its best! Sister... we are all in this together! As the ole preacher once said... "you just keep on..keeping on!" Keep your eye on God.
