His Mercy Is New Every Morning

The people of God were always worshiping the idols of the people around them in spite of the warnings and the pleadings of God. It wasn't until they were captive in Babylon that they were cured of these dangerous relationships with other gods.

From the days of their captivity until now, the people of God have always been guilty of this sin. But in many places in Scripture, the Holy Spirit takes up the responsibility to make sure that the people of God, once saved, would have the opportunity to never slip back.

God is still dealing mercifully with those who wander away in rebellion and pride, but return in humility and faith. We have our idols, our substitutes for the living God. We have things in our lives that seem more important because they promise more immediate gratification. We too, grow discouraged in a wilderness - a place of business without Godly results. To get rid of our sense of emptiness in this world, we have looked for satisfaction in lesser ways of life, other than living a life for God.

Even so, God is patiently waiting for us to rid ourselves of our old way of life, and start living a life for Him. He may discipline us, but in His mercy, He will never forsake us.

"But I have hope when I think of this; The Lord's love never ends; His mercies never stop. They are new every morning."
