Try your local university. They should help you for free. Hope that helps a little.

Tara,

Depending on the community you live in I would look for a Center for Nonprofit Management they often offer grant writing training. It is good to get the basics for yourself so that you don't have to pay large fees to a grant writer.

I would also like to suggest that you check with your local banks they often have a trust department that will manage small grants (people left money to be donated in their community) most will require writing a simple letter explaining what you are requesting and showing that you are a 501(3) and if it fits there objective you have a good chance of getting the money (most don't go after small pots of local money).

You could possibly look into attending one of the seminars through National Grants Conference. I attended one (of course with a fee), you get all the material information you need for grants, etc. They even help you to fine tune your business plan to ensure that you will even be considered for a grant. I did get this far in the process. I plan on picking it back up as well, to pursue a grant for my business. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks to read from your encouraging statement .Iam also looking for ways of how i can get a grant in order improve my services to the community therefore i hope i have met the right person to guide me through.Please welcome & give me tips as to how to get grant to enable me to stand finacialy stable in my business.Iam a kenyan currently in kenya & doing business there.Iam owner /founder & Director Apple Computer College.Offering IT (Information Technology) Dpl/Cert to school leavers & those who wish to upgrade the world of computer use.
