The role of the church in public education

No matter what city, town or state you live in there is an issue with the quality of public education where most of our children attend. There are communities and groups who start christian based schoos to train their children. Should we take our old buildings after we build new ones and turn them into community schools? Would it be feasible for a group of churches to enter into a joint venture to develop one strong christian school to address the needs of young men in our communities and one for our girls-separate schools to train our children built on a christian foundation?
