Homelessness, has been a worldwide emergency. A U.S. congressional report declared homelessness, in America, a national epidemic. Well, the truth may be that some are homeless by choice. You see, they may have left the mainstream of life, because they didn't want to face the "Rat Race" that life has become. They may have left the mainstream of life, because they did not want to face up to life's responsibilities. Or, they may have left the mainstream of life, because of the suffering of a tragedy, the loss of a job, a home, or thier health.

However, I want you to know that homelessness is not a new problem. Jesus, himself, had "No place to lay His head" (Mt 8:20); and, the Apostles were "Often hungry, thirsty, in rags and homeless" (I Cor 4:11).

Yes, all over the world, they pull their few belongings together. They stake out a corner or doorstep and try to set up Home.

But there is another kind of homelessness. Countless thousands live in houses or buildings of wood & stone that come no where near the definition of Home that God intended it to be. Children are abused and put down. Teenagers are lonely, misunderstood and unwanted. Young Adults are confused and searching. Moms are overwhelmed, frightened and angry. Dads are wanting out and avoiding family issues. The elderly are facing rejection and feeling in the way.

To a lost and dying world, John The Baptist says "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sins of the world" (John 1:29).
