IN RESPONSE TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND THE CHURCH'S ROLE

The churchs role is to educate and inform and facilitate healing with domestic abuse victims. It is to create a platform where women and men can come forward without shame and recieve the compassion that Jesus Christ gives to the broken. Many victims will not come forward because of shame and fear. It is our responsibility to carry ourselves as a local fellowship so that people can feel comfortable and safe with being transparent. We have to be real and take off the mask. As a church we also have to distinguish between religion and relationship with Jesus Christ. Telling women to stay in unsafe violent marriages is not what Jesus would do. It is the will of our heavenly Father that we live and not die. Spiritually and Naturally. The family has always been important to God. Abusers need help as well. The church should offer couseling by certified personel to help men and women that want to break what has probably been a cycle from childhood possibly providing an opportunity for family reconciliation. That should be the choice of the indivials. No victim should ever be made to feel they must go back to an potentially abusive situation even if the abuser has gone through counseling.
