Can Born Again Believers Be Demon Possessed?

Jesus, when visited by Nicodemus, used these words when speaking of Born-Again-Believers.

1)  "… except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3)

2)  "… ye must be born again." (John 3:7)

Just as the Lord has given us the opportunity to receive from Him by way of right Godly choices … wrong ungodly choices, on the other hand, will leave us open to receive from the devil himself. Consistent wrong ungodly choices, allows our conscience to become sinful, defiled, weak or seared. Ultimately, we risk reprobation, demonic possession & our gift from God of eternal life.

According to the Bible, there is a problem with the idea that demons may possess Christians. In fact, there is no indication, Biblically, that any of these "demoniacs" or "demonized" persons were right with God.

The Church, as it speaks about "resisting evil forces", says "It seems evident that the term possessed should not be applied to true believers." Clearly there are deliverances. However, calling them deliverances from demon possession, for true believers, is unscriptural.

The Bible clearly states that demons are made subject to Christ & believers by the atonement, the name of Jesus, and the Holy Spirit (Mk 8:16-17). Also, demons, by true believers, are discerned, tested, resisted and rejected (I Jn 4:1-6). They are not able, therefore, to enter the Christian who is born again. The Bible says "If the truth remains in us, we remain in the Son and in the Father" (I Jn 2:24).

We believe that born again Christians, who are living for God, cannot be demon possessed. Also, when one is born again they enter into a spiritual realm that evokes Bible study and teaching, regarding how one should live and conduct oneself in spiritual warfare with satan & demons. The Word of God gives us full assurance that "… He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world" (I Jn 4:4).
